Welcome. This blog centres on my work as a visual artist, and will include new prints and paintings, work-in-progress, reflections on process and method, and reviews of material that has been of value to me in my work. Posts will sometimes refer back to past work that can be found on the main pages of the site. The ‘Prints/artwork’  page gathers a selection of personal work, mainly large-format digital prints produced for exhibitions between 2006 and the present. While many of them involve typography in some way I would categorise them more as ‘art’ than ‘design’. The ‘Graphic Design’ page shows commissioned designs produced for a specific purpose or context: posters, flyers, books and ephemera. The ‘Typography and lettering’ page features typeface specimens and lettering design projects. ‘Site-specific work’ includes a variety of exterior and interior installations, many of them typographic, including collaborations with the sculptor Harry Gray. ‘Pattern design’ shows a selection from the library of pattern swatches I have designed in recent years. The ‘Writing’ page lists my main publications and links to full texts for a selection of articles, conference papers and reviews
